How to Ping
To verify that your address resolves to the proper IP address:
  • Click Start-->Run.
  • In the Open box type in 'CMD' (without the quotes). Windows 98 or ME users type in 'COMMAND'.
  • Click OK
  • In the black box that pops up type in 'ping address.that.you.are.resolving'. For example, to resolve the web site ip address for www.starliteinternet.com you would type in 'ping www.starliteinternet.com'.
  • Your computer will do a DNS lookup to find what ip address to attempt to ping and list it for you on the first line. For example, the above command would list 'Pinging www.starliteinternet.com [72.32.124.168]'. The 72.32.124.168 is the IP address that the starliteinternet.com web site is hosted on.
