Uploading Your Web Site with FTP
What is FTP?
  • FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is a method for sending and receiving files using FTP clients.
First make sure you have the necessary information:
  • FTP Address. This will be the same as your web site address (i.e. www.starliteinternet.com).
  • User name.
  • Password.
  • Directory name.
  • If you are missing any of this information, please call our support number for assistance.
FTP Upload:
  • Open your FTP client and create a profile for your connection using the preceding information.
  • Connect to your FTP account.
  • Most ftp sites will have a 'user' directory and a 'web site' directory. The 'web site' directory is where your live site resides. The 'user' directory is for personal storage.
  • Open the directory where you want to upload files to, select the files to upload, and then send them to the FTP server.
  • The files uploaded to the 'web site' directory will be live immediately. If you do not see the changes to your site, try holding down the SHIFT key while hitting Refresh in your browser.
